Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is there lye in your soap? What is your soap made of?

Yes, ALL handmade soap is made by combining lye and liquid to oils. A chemical reaction occurs which is called saponification. After saponification there is no lye left in the soap. Our basic soap is made with a blend of vegetable, olive, coconut and castor oils. Some of our soaps have added shea butter, goat milk and/or fragrance.

2. I’m allergic to fragrances and/or have sensitive skin. Do you have a soap for me?

Absolutely! We have fragrance free soaps.

3. What size are your soaps?

Our soaps range between 4-4.5 ounces. Our Loofah Soap Cupcakes and Spa Day Soaps are 3-3.5 ounces.

4. How long does your soap last?

Our soaps last about 3-4 weeks depending on use and storage. The more you use it the quicker it’ll go. You want to store your soap in a soap dish or a soap bag for longer use. Your soap will use much quicker if it sits in a puddle of water.

5. What is the shelf life of your soap?

Our soaps will last for years. However, the longer your soap sits in the cupboard the less fragrant it will become.

6. What is the difference in beard balm and beard oil?

The oil is for the skin under your beard. If you experience dry skin or dandruff, the oil is a great product! The beard balm is for your hair. The beeswax and butters help shape and condition your beard.

7. Do you test your products on animals or use animal products?

No and Yes. We do not test on animals, only willing family and friends. Yes, we use goat milk in some of our soaps. No animals are harmed during this process.

8. What is the “white stuff” on top of my soap?

Some of our soaps have a white layer on the top of the soap. This is called soda ash. Soda ash forms when air reaches a batch of soap within the first 24 hours of curing. This is a harmless substance and doesn’t affect the final bars. It typically shows up on top of soap, but in some cases it can run all the way through. It will rinse off the first time you use the soap.
